A little over a year ago, I stepped away from full-time UX design to dive into comedy and acting. So I took the classes, started writing regularly, and launched a monthly sketch show that's still running, called Dear Diary Comedy. Along the way I kept my design chops sharp through freelance illustration and social media work for a handful of clients. What I didn't expect was how much the two disciplines would reinforce each other. Producing a live show every month is its own kind of design practice. You're constantly reading a room, testing material, cutting what doesn't work, and shipping on a deadline whether you feel ready or not. That instinct for audience and iteration is exactly what I bring back to product and visual design now. I'm looking for a full-time design role where I can put that sharpened sense of storytelling and craft to work... and yes, I'll still be doing sketch on the weekends and weeknights.
